Smethurst Hall House – Bury, Lancs

The house dates back to the time of Queen Elizabeth I. During her reign ownership passed from the Smethursts to the Meadowcrofts. The Taylors occupied afterwards and John Taylor carried out many alterations about 1750. Little of the original building remains although it enjoys a British Heritage Grade II listed status.
